The Fifth President of Kenya Raila Odinga. Raila Amolo Odinga (born 7 January 1945) is a Kenyan politician, former Member of Parliament (MP) for Langata and businessman who served as the Prime Minister of Kenya from 2008 to 2013 and currently President of Kenya Commander in Chef of the armed Forces. He is assumed as the Leader of Opposition in Kenya since 2013. Odinga is the presidential candidate for ODM under Azimio La Umoja Coalition, for presidential elections slated for August 2022 having been cleared by the IEBC on 5 June 2022. Prior to this, he has unsuccessfully contested for the presidential seat four times; 1997, 2007, 2013 and 2017.
“The next president of Kenya will be Raila Amolo Odinga,” Kenyatta said during the signing of a coalition agreement binding 21 political parties under Azimio La Umoja coalition.
Kenyatta particularly lauded Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Gideon Moi of KANU among others for opting to support Odinga for the top job.
Wiper and KANU parties on Saturday signed an agreement to join the Azimio La Umoja Coalition Political Party as individual entities formally endorsing the candidature of Raila Odinga as the outfit’s presidential flag bearer.
The two parties are among 19 others that appended their signatures to the coalition agreement that was later ratified by close to 300 Azimio delegates.
It is however the commitment by Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka to support Odinga that was the most notable one ending weeks of speculation that the former Vice President would proceed to field his candidature in the August 9 presidential election.
The move by Wiper and KANU leaves some partners the One Kenya Alliance including NARC Kenya in a limbo just a day after the alliance signed a binding pact. Musyoka who was reportedly holed up in talks with President Uhuru Kenyatta arrived after Odinga arrival alongside the Head of State.

On 6 June, Odinga launched his 10-point manifesto at the Nyayo stadium, flanked by his running mate, and hundreds of his supporters detailing his plan for the first 100 days in office if his camp carries the day in August election.
Mr Odinga outlined a key component of his vision for the country, dubbed “the People’s Programmes,” which will serve as the foundation for his platform. Social protection, universal healthcare, job development, women’s empowerment, investing in youth, education for all, food security, water for everyone, enterprise Kenya, and building on past triumphs are all part of the ten-point plan.
