Tamale College of Education is a teacher education college in Tamale (Sagnarigu District, Northern Region, Ghana). The college is located in Northern Zone zone. It is one of the 46 public colleges of education in Ghana. The college participated in the DFID-funded T-TEL programme. For the 2018/2019 academic year, the institution received 1086 admission applications but admitted 543. The rest were rejected due to infrastructural challenges.

Tamale College of Education is located within the Education Ridge in the Tamale, Ghana Metropolis. It was opened in 1958 with the motto ‘ORA ET LABORA’ by the first president of the Republic of Ghana, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. Sixty female pioneer students were enrolled in the college that year, and it remained a female institution until 1977 when it became a mixed institution. The first principal of the college was Miss Freda Mischler, a Swiss Missionary.

Tamale College of Education has staff and students’ accommodation. It has academic facilities such as Science Laboratory, Library, Assembly Hall, ICT centre with internet facilities. The College has a 4WD Nissan Patrol, a Benz Bus and a 58-seater Tata bus.

The college has gone through the following programmes since its establishment:

  • 4-year Teacher’s Certificate ‘A’ Post Middle 1957-1994
  • 3-year Teacher’s Certificate ‘A’ Post Middle 1990-2006
  • 3-year Diploma in Basic Education post secondary 2004-
  • 4-year Diploma in Basic Education – UTDBE 2005
  • 2-year Diploma in Basic Education post ‘A’ sandwich 2007

WASSCE /SSSCE Qualification Applicants

The general requirement for admission to the Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) Programme is as follows:Get Alerts for latest updates. Don’t Miss Out!

  1. WASSCE Holders: CREDIT (A1-C6) in Six (6) subjects comprising Three(3) Core subjects, including English Language and Core Mathematics, and Three (3) Elective subjects relevant to the course of study.
  2. SSSCE Holders: CREDIT (A-D) in Six (6) subjects comprising Three (3) Core subjects, including English Language and Core Mathematics, and Three(3) Elective subjects relevant to the course of study
  3. Holders of TVET Qualifications: CREDIT in Three Core Subjects including English and Mathematics and PASSES in Three Elective Subjects relevant to the course of study.
  4. Candidates awaiting the MAY/JUNE, 2018 WASSCE and NABPTEX RESULTS can also apply.

Credit (A1-C6) in Three (3)CORE subjects including English Language and  Mathematics and Three (3) relevant Elective subjects. Credit (A-D) in Three (3)CORE subjects including English Language and  Mathematics and Three(3) relevant Elective subjects.

Tamale College of Education Admission Form – Online Application Procedure:

Tamale College of Education Admission Form Application Details – Below is how to apply for Tamale College of Education Admission 2020/2021:

Applicants will first make a payment of One Hundred and Fifty Ghana Cedis (GHC 150.00) into the Colleges of Education- Ghana Account at any branch of the following bank nationwide:

  1. uniBank Ghana Ltd.
  2. ii) Additionally, payment can also be made through mobile money wallet: Tigo Cash, Airtel Money or MTN Mobile Money by dialling short code *924*8# from all networks.
  3. Upon payment, applicants will be given the following information:
    1. A Personal Identification Number (PIN).
    2. An Admission Application Serial Number.
    3. The Monica’s College of Education Portal Address- coeportal.edu.gh
  4. With this PIN, applicants will then visit the Colleges of Education admission website: coeportal.edu.gh and follow specific guidelines to fill the online application form.

NOTES

  1. Applicants are advised to read and to ensure they fully understand all related instructions for completing the application form.
  2. Applicants are to note that application forms not properly completed will not be processed.
  3. After completing the online application form, an applicant will need to print a copy which should be sent with one passport photograph and a copy/copies of their results slip (where available) by EMS priority envelope obtainable from Ghana Post nationwide and addressed to The Principal of the COLLEGE chosen.
  4. Applicants will be notified of the receipt of their applications by SMS (text message) and should, therefore, provide correct and reliable cell phone numbers when completing the form online.
  5. Applicants will also receive admission offer notifications by SMS and those who do not receive such notifications may understand it to mean that their applications were not successful.
  6. Applicants are to note that the Colleges will cross-check their results from the West African Examinations Council as part of the admission process. Applicants found to have submitted fake or falsified documents in support of their applications will be made to face the legal consequences of their actions.
