Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi has ignited a political storm after questioning Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka over a viral photo featuring a man who bears an uncanny resemblance to him.
The former Vice President had traveled to Kitui to console the family of his late Personal Assistant, Daniel Kimanzi, and posed for a photo with one of the deceased’s sons. The striking resemblance between Kalonzo and the young man set social media ablaze, with netizens speculating about a possible undisclosed relationship.
Sudi’s Challenge to Kalonzo
Speaking during a public gathering on Sunday, February 2, 2025, Sudi expressed surprise at the viral image, implying that Kalonzo might not be entirely forthcoming about his personal life.
“I saw a picture of Kalonzo at a burial. I saw the two grown-up boys of his former PA, and I want to ask Kalonzo—why do these boys look so much like you?” Sudi remarked.
The lawmaker went further, urging public figures to be honest about their families, suggesting that secrecy and dishonesty were prevalent in politics.
“Let people know the number of children and wives they have. Stop being deceitful and follow my example. I have nothing to hide,” Sudi added.
In an unusual biblical reference, the Kapseret MP even joked that the return of Jesus Christ had been delayed due to deceptive people in society.
“Apparently, even the return of Christ has been delayed by the presence of deceitful people. I knew Kalonzo as a staunch AIC member, but then I saw a duplicate of him in two children of his former staffer. That was very risky.”
Kalonzo Remains Silent Amid Political Jabs
Despite the social media frenzy, Kalonzo has yet to address the claims, a notable shift from his usual quick-witted responses to political attacks.
Just last week, President William Ruto took a jab at Kalonzo, dismissing his ability to advise on livestock vaccination, suggesting he should stick to farming green grams instead.
In a subtle rebuttal, Kalonzo responded by posting an uncaptioned photo of himself with cows, later following up with a video showcasing his farm, seemingly countering Ruto’s remarks.
Political Repercussions
Sudi’s remarks are likely to stir further debate and political reactions, with Kalonzo’s silence fueling more curiosity and speculation. Whether the Wiper leader will respond directly to Sudi’s provocative comments remains to be seen.
