Up until 2010, Sospeter Magita Machage, a Kenyan diplomat, had dual accreditations to the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Republic of Belarus, and the Ukraine. She also served as Kenya’s ambassador to Russia. He was named an ambassador on April 20, 2005.
Machage spent more than 26 years working in various capacities for the government. From 1983 to 1984, he worked as the Registrar of Kenyatta National Hospital. From 1984 to 1986, he was the Medical Officer of Health Kitui District. From 1986 to 1987, he served as Health Easter Province’s Provincial Medical Officer.
From 1987 to 1989, he worked in the private sector at Kendu Mission Hospital as the deputy director and chief of staff. From 1989 to 1996, he served as the Isibania Maternity and Nursing Home’s medical officer in charge. He was a member of the Kuria District Medical Board, the Transmara District Medical Board, and the DDC. From 1996 to 1999, he also held the position of Medical Officer in Charge at St. Joseph’s Mission Hospital in Kilgoris. He served as the Medical Director of Transmara Medicare Hospital and the Medical Advisor for the Ngong Catholic Diocese.
He was the Chairman of the Lake Victoria Service Board’s Environment and Development Committee in addition to serving as Director of the Ministry of Water and Natural Resources Management and Development before being appointed.
In 1983, he received his PhD in general surgery and medicine from Kharkov State University and Crimea State Medical Institute (USSR). He enrolled in the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia in 2005, and in 2009, he graduated with a master’s degree in international relations with first class honors. At the same university, he is presently working toward a PhD in international relations.
He was elected to the position of Professor and Academician at the Russian Academy of Problems with Security, Defense, and Order in 2007.
