Samsung Electronics has announced a major leadership update following the passing of Han Jong-hee last week. TM Roh, currently the head of Samsung’s Mobile eXperience (MX) business, will now also serve as the Acting Head of the Device eXperience (DX) division, which oversees digital devices and home appliances.
🔁 Leadership Shifts Across Divisions
Alongside TM Roh’s expanded role, Samsung confirmed other strategic appointments:
- Won-joon Choi becomes COO of the MX division, while continuing as Head of R&D Office and Head of Global Operations.
- Cheolgi Kim is now Head of the Digital Appliances business, a key role within the DX structure.
🎨 Design Focus Gets a Boost
In a notable addition, Mauro Porcini has been named President and Chief Design Officer of Samsung Electronics. Porcini, who previously held design leadership roles at Pepsi and 3M, will help unify and elevate Samsung’s design identity across:
- Mobile devices
- TVs
- Home appliances
Samsung stated in its press release:
“With the addition of Mr. Porcini, Samsung Electronics plans to further strengthen its design capabilities across all business areas.”
📝 Final Thoughts
With TM Roh at the helm of both MX and DX, Samsung is signaling a tighter integration between mobile and home technology, likely aimed at driving smart ecosystem growth. Combined with renewed focus on design excellence, these leadership changes set the tone for Samsung’s next phase of innovation.
