A toll-free telephone number or freephone number is a telephone number that is billed for all arriving calls instead of incurring charges to the originating telephone subscriber. For the calling party, a call to a toll-free number from a landline is free of charge. How to Register a Toll free Number in Kenya

A toll-free, Freecall, Freephone, 0120, 800, 0800, 888, 877, 866, 855, 844, 833 or 1‑800 number is identified by a dialing prefix similar to a geographic area code, such as 909 (the area code that covers eastern Los Angeles County and southwestern San Bernardino County). The specific service access numbers vary by country.

Procedure to Register a Toll free Number in Kenya

  • Toll-free numbers are special numbers that allows callers to reach businesses and/or individuals without being charged for the call. They are usually used by organizations that wish to make it easier for users to make contact with them. The charge for using a toll free number is paid by the called party instead of the caller.
  • Typically, they begin with 0800 or 888, but there are few exceptions like 116, which offers free access to the child helpline service. Toll free numbers are provided by toll free service providers, who are usually the telephone carriers.
