Nakivubo War Memorial Grounds | Confederation of African Football (CAF) inspectors were thoroughly delighted by the spectacular Hamz Stadium, built by entrepreneur Hamis Kiggundu, often known as Ham. The stadium is soon to be ready for presidential commissioning.
The inspectors were once again enthralled by this recently renovated stadium, which had previously received high marks from CAF authorities for fulfilling the strict requirements needed to host renowned football tournaments like CHAN and AFCON prior to East Africa winning the Pamoja AFCON 2027 bid.
Apart from the field of play, the CAF inspectors examined contemporary floodlights, a backup generator, locker rooms prepared to accommodate at least four teams, first aid and treatment areas, spectator seating that was pleasant, and media facilities.
The availability of essential facilities, such as televisions, refrigerators filled with non-alcoholic beverages, sealed mineral water bottles, and waste-paper bins for bottles, was also inspected.
The CAF representatives carried out a thorough inspection tour, assessing the inner and exterior perimeters of Hamz Nakivubo Stadium, the mixed zone area, parking lots, restrooms, dining establishments, and access roads. During wet seasons, Ham’s skillfully built canals surrounding the stadium guaranteed easy water movement. The CAF inspectors acknowledged that Hamz Nakivubo Stadium has the capacity to hold events of the CAF A class and expressed their complete satisfaction with the facility’s level. This favorable evaluation demonstrates the nation’s preparedness to co-host the esteemed football event with Tanzania and Kenya.
Now that the CAF inspection is over, Uganda, along with Kenya and Tanzania, is eager to host CHAN and AFCON in 2027.
President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, His Excellency, will shortly dedicate Hamz Stadium, located at the Nakivubo War Memorial Grounds.
