Parklands Sports Club Membership Requirements and Fees. Established in 1906, Parklands Sports Club is one of East and Central Africa’s largest family sports clubs, located along Ojijo Road, Parklands, about 2 km from Nairobi Central Business District. The club occupies 22 acres of land and has around 4,000 main members.

Facilities and Amenities

• Sports Facilities: Walking and rubber track, football and cricket fields, squash and tennis courts, hockey pitch.
• Fitness Facilities: Large gymnasium with various fitness classes.
• Children’s Activities: Dedicated area for children’s activities.
• Swimming Pool: Well-maintained swimming pool.

Membership Categories

1. Full Member:
   • Age: 25 years and above.
   • Requirements: Elected through a ballot by the main committee, introduced by an existing member.
   • Entrance Fee: Kshs 775,000.
2. Nominated Member:
   • Requirements: Spouse of a Full Member, nominated by the Full Member.
   • Privileges: Use of club facilities, but cannot attend or vote at General Meetings.
3. Overseas Member:
   • Requirements: Existing member relocating to another country.
   • Privileges: 50% reduction in Quarterly subscriptions with written approval from the Main Committee.
4. Junior Member:
   • Age: 21 to 25 years.
   • Requirements: Child of a Full Member, elected and pay a subscribed fee.
   • Entrance Fee: Kshs 13,650.
   • Transition: Graduates to Full Member at 25 with an upgrade fee of Kshs 120,750.
5. Life Member:
   • Requirements: Full Member for at least 35 years, aged 70 or above.
   • Privileges: One-time life membership fee, no further subscriptions.
6. Upcountry Member:
   • Requirements: Existing Member changing residence within Kenya to a location 60 km or more from Nairobi.
   • Privileges: One-third reduction in Quarterly subscriptions.
7. Temporary Member:
   • Requirements: Elected by the Main Committee, maintains membership by paying monthly entrance fees.
8. Honorary Life Member:
   • Requirements: Full Member for at least 15 years, recognized for outstanding service.
   • Privileges: No subscriptions payable.
9. Reciprocating Member:
   • Requirements: Member of a club with a reciprocating relationship with Parklands Sports Club.

Membership Application Process

1. Introduction: Need two full members to propose and second.
2. Application Form: Obtain from the club.
3. Submission: Include a detailed CV, Passport/National Identity Card, and copies of professional academic certificates.
4. Evaluation: Balloting Committee evaluates applications.
5. Admission: Based on meeting entry requirements and available vacancies, on a first-come, first-admitted basis.
