List of All Elected Governors in Kenya 2022 – 2027. Kenyans from the 47 counties across the country cast their votes on Tuesday, August 9, 2022. They participated in electing leaders for various seats including the President, Governors, Senators, Woman Representatives, MPs, and MCAs.

Of the 47 Counties, voters from 45 counties went to the ballot to vote for their governors in 2022. Elections in Mombasa and Kakamega counties did not take place. They were suspended by the IEBC due to a mix-up of the ballot papers.

After the voting ended and votes tallied, results for governors were announced and Kenyans were notified of who would represent them.

1. Abdullswamad Sheriff Nassir (Orange Democratic Movement (ODM)) was elected governor of Mombasa in the August 29, 2022 election. Francis Thoya Foleni (ODM) was elected deputy governor. The election should have been conducted on 9 August 2022 but was postponed to 29 August 2022, due to an error with the election ballots.  Nassir defeated six other candidates, receiving 119,083 (54%) of the valid votes cast. His closest challenger was Hassan Omar Hassan (United Democratic Alliance (UDA)), who received 98,108 (45%) of the valid votes cast. 34% turnout for the gubernatorial election in Mombasa, as per provisional IEBC results.
2. Fatuma Mohamed Achani (United Democratic Alliance (UDA)) was elected governor of Kwale county in the August 9, 2022 election. Chirema Josephat Kombo (UDA) was elected deputy governor.  Achani defeated five other candidates, receiving 59,674 (33%) of the valid votes cast. Her closest challengers were Hamadi Iddi Boga (Orange Democratic Movement (ODM)), with 53,972 (30%) votes and Lunganzi Chai Mangale (Pamoja African Alliance (PAA)) with 47,639 (27%) votes. 55% turnout for the gubernatorial election in Kwale, as per provisional IEBC results.
3. Gideon Maitha Mung’aro (Orange Democratic Movement (ODM)) was elected governor of Kilifi county in the August 9, 2022 election. Flora Margaret Mbetsa Chibule (ODM) was elected deputy governor.  Mung’aro defeated six other candidates, receiving 143,773 (51%) of the valid votes cast. His closest challengers were Aisha Jumwa Karisa Katana (United Democratic Alliance (UDA)), with 65,893 (23%) votes and George Kithi (Pamoja African Alliance (PAA)) with 64,326 (23%) votes. 48% turnout for the gubernatorial election in Kilifi, as per provisional IEBC results.
4. Dhadho Gaddae Godhana (Orange Democratic Movement (ODM)) was re-elected governor of Tana River county in the August 9, 2022 election. Mahadh Ali Loka (ODM) was elected deputy governor. Godhana defeated twelve other candidates, receiving 26,892 of the valid votes cast. His closest challengers were Tuneya Hussein Dado (United Democratic Alliance (UDA)), with 26,633 votes and Nuh Nassir Abdi (United Party of Independent Alliance (UPIA)) with 24,101 votes. 
5. Issa Abdalla Timamy (Amani National Congress (ANC)) was elected governor of Lamu county in the August 9, 2022 election. Raphael Munyua Ndung’u (ANC) was elected deputy governor.  Timamy defeated three other candidates, receiving 24,198 (48%) of the valid votes cast. His closest challengers were Fahim Yasin Twaha (Jubilee Party (JP)), with 16,054 (32%) votes and Umra Omar (Safina) with 7,556 (15%) votes.  61% turnout for the gubernatorial election in Lamu, as per provisional IEBC results.
6. Andrew Mwadime (Independent) was elected governor of Taita Taveta county in the August 9, 2022 election. Christine Ruth Saru Kilalo (Independent) was elected deputy governor. Mwadime defeated twelve other candidates, receiving 49,901 (45%) of the valid votes cast. His closest challengers were Granton Graham Samboja (Jubilee Party (JP)), with 23,703 (21%) votes and Johnson Mtuta Mruttu (United Democratic Alliance (UDA)) with 13,685 (12%) votes. 61% turnout for the gubernatorial election in Taita Taveta, as per provisional IEBC results.
7. Adan Nathif Jama (Orange Democratic Movement (ODM)) was elected governor of Garissa  county in the August 9, 2022 election. Abdi Muhumed Dagane (ODM) was elected deputy governor.  Jama defeated four other candidates, receiving 69,342 (63%) of the valid votes cast. His closest challengers were Ali Bunow Korane (Jubilee Party (JP)), with 26,148 (24%) votes and Dekow Mohamed Barrow (United Democratic Alliance (UDA)) with 13,602 (12%) votes. 55% turnout for the gubernatorial election in Garissa, as per provisional IEBC results.
8. Ahmed Abdullahi Mohamad Jiir (Orange Democratic Movement (ODM)) was elected governor of Wajir county in the August 9, 2022 election. Ahmed Muhumed Abdi (ODM) was elected deputy governor. Abdullahi defeated eight other candidates, receiving 35,533 (27%) of the valid votes cast. His closest challengers were Hassan Mohamed Adam (Jubilee Party (JP)), with 27,224 (25%) votes and Ahmed Ali Muktar (United Democratic Alliance (UDA)) with 21,859 (17%) votes. 64% turnout for the gubernatorial election in Wajir, as per provisional IEBC results.
9. Mohamed Adan Khalif (United Democratic Movement (UDM)) was elected governor of Mandera  county in the August 9, 2022 election. Ali Maalim Mohamud (UDM) was elected deputy governor.  Khalif defeated three other candidates, receiving 53,861 (40%) of the valid votes cast. His closest challengers were Adan Abdulla Mohamed Jari (Jubilee Party (JP)), with 40,564 (30%) votes and Hassan Noor Hassan (Orange Democratic Movement (ODM)) with 40,514 (30%) votes.  63% turnout for the gubernatorial election in Mandera, as per provisional IEBC results.
10. Mohamud Mohamed Ali (United Democratic Movement (UDM)) was elected governor of Marsabit  county in the August 9, 2022 election. Solomon Gubo Riwe (UDM) was elected deputy governor.  Mohamud M. Ali defeated five other candidates, receiving 38,803 (34%) of the valid votes cast. His closest challengers were Francis Chachu Ganya (Kenya African National Union (KANU)), with 28,279 (25%) votes and Sunya Orre (Amani National Congress (ANC)) with 21,774 (19%) votes. 69% turnout for the gubernatorial election in Marsabit, as per provisional IEBC results.
11. Abdi Ibrahim Hassan (aka Guyo) (Jubilee Party (JP)) was elected governor of Isiolo county in the August 9, 2022 election. James Long’or Lowasa (JP) was elected deputy governor. Hassan defeated five other candidates, receiving 28,946 (50%) of the valid votes cast. His closest challenger was Godana Doyo Adhi (Independent), with 26,270 (45%) votes. 64% turnout for the gubernatorial election in Isiolo, as per provisional IEBC results.
12. Kawira Mwangaza (Independent) was elected governor of Meru county in the August 9, 2022 election. Isaac Mutuma M’ethingia (Independent) was elected deputy governor.  Mwangaza defeated two other candidates, receiving 209,148 (42%) of the valid votes cast. Her challengers were Franklin Mithika Linturi (United Democratic Alliance (UDA)) with 183,859 (37%) votes and Kiraitu Murungi Devolution Empowerment Party (DEP) with 110,814 (22%). 65% turnout for the gubernatorial election in Meru, as per provisional IEBC results.
13. Onesmus Muthomi Njuki (United Democratic Alliance (UDA)) was re-elected governor of Tharaka Nithi county in the August 9, 2022 election. Muisrael Nyagah Derebia (UDA) was elected deputy governor. Njuki defeated five other candidates, receiving 97,608 (61%) of the valid votes cast. His closest challenger was Erastus Nyaga Njoka (Jubilee Party (JP)) with 58,152 (36%) votes. 70% turnout for the gubernatorial election in Tharaka Nithi, as per provisional IEBC results.
14. Cecily Mutitu Mbarire (United Democratic Alliance (UDA)) was elected governor of Embu county in the August 9, 2022 election. Justus Kinywa Mugo (UDA) was elected deputy governor. Mbarire defeated three other candidates, receiving 108,610 (50%) of the valid votes cast. Her closest challenger was Lenny Maxwell Kivuti (Devolution Empowerment Party (DEP)) with 105,246 (48%) votes. 66% turnout for the gubernatorial election in Embu, as per provisional IEBC results.
15. Julius Makau Malombe (Wiper Democratic Movement (WDM)) was elected governor of Kitui county in the August 9, 2022 election. Augustine Kanani Wambua (WDM) was elected deputy governor. Malombe defeated three other candidates, receiving 198,004 (60%) of the valid votes cast. His closest challenger was David Musila (Jubilee Party (JP)) with 117,606 (36%) votes. 62% turnout for the gubernatorial election in Kitui, as per provisional IEBC results.
16. Wavinya Ndeti (Wiper Democratic Movement (WDM)) was elected governor of Machakos county in the August 9, 2022 election. Francis Mwangangi Kilonzo (WDM) was elected deputy governor. Ndeti defeated four other candidates, receiving 226,609 (56%) of the valid votes cast. Her closest challenger was Nzioka Siwadie Waita (Chama Cha Uzalendo (CCU)) with 129,181 (32%) votes. 59% turnout for the gubernatorial election in Machakos, as per provisional IEBC results.
17. Mutula Kilonzo Junior (Wiper Democratic Movement (WDM)) was elected governor of Makueni county in the August 9, 2022 election. Lucy Mumbua Mulili (WDM) was elected deputy governor. Mutula defeated four other candidates, receiving 214,088 (74%) of the valid votes cast. 18. Moses Ndirangu Badilisha Kiarie (United Democratic Alliance (UDA)) was elected governor of Nyandarua county in the August 9, 2022 election. John Mathara Mwangi (UDA) was elected deputy governor. Kiarie defeated four other candidates, receiving 158,263 (66%) of the valid votes cast. 19. Mwalimu Edward Mutahi Kahiga (United Democratic Alliance (UDA)) was elected governor of Nyeri county in the August 9, 2022 election. David Kinaniri Waroe Mwangi (UDA) was elected deputy governor. Kahiga defeated three other candidates, receiving 213,373 (66%) of the valid votes cast. 20. Anne Mumbi Waiguru (United Democratic Alliance (UDA)) was elected governor of Kirinyaga county in the August 9, 2022 election. David Githanda Wachira (UDA) was elected deputy governor. Waiguru defeated seven other candidates, receiving 113,088 (44%) of the valid votes cast. Her closest challenger was Purity Wangui Ngirici (Independent) with 105,677 (41%) votes. 69% turnout for the gubernatorial election in Kirinyaga, as per provisional IEBC results.
21. Irungu Kang’ata (United Democratic Alliance (UDA)) was elected governor of Muranga county in the August 9, 2022 election. Stephen Mburu Munania (UDA) was elected deputy governor. Kang’ata defeated six other candidates, receiving 256,561 (61%) of the valid votes cast. His closest challenger was Jamleck Irungu Kamau (Jubilee Party (JP)) with 91,164 (22%) votes. 67% turnout for the gubernatorial election in Muranga, as per provisional IEBC results.
22. Paul Kimani Wamatangi (United Democratic Alliance (UDA)) was elected governor of Kiambu county in the August 9, 2022 election. Rosemary Njeri Kirika (UDA) was elected deputy governor. Wamatangi defeated six other candidates, receiving 348,371 (42%) of the valid votes cast. His closest challenger was Patrick Kimani Wainaina Jungle (Independent) with 237,361 (29%) votes. 64% turnout for the gubernatorial election in Kiambu, as per provisional IEBC results.
23. Jeremiah Ekamais Lomorukai Napotikan (Orange Democratic Movement (ODM)) was elected governor of Turkana county in the August 9, 2022 election. John Erus Lopeyok (ODM) was elected deputy governor.  Lomorukai defeated three other candidates, receiving 66,631 (47%) of the valid votes cast. His closest challenger was John Munyes Kiyonga (Jubilee Party (JP)) with 41,866 (29%) votes. 60% turnout for the gubernatorial election in Turkana, as per provisional IEBC results.
24. Simon Kachapin Kitalei (United Democratic Alliance (UDA)) was elected governor of West Pokot county in the August 9, 2022 election. Achaule Robert Komolle (UDA) was elected deputy governor.  Kachapin defeated two other candidates, receiving 86,476 (50%) of the valid votes cast. 25. Jonathan Lati Lelelit (United Democratic Alliance (UDA)) was elected governor of Samburu county in the August 9, 2022 election. Gabriel Samia Lenengwezi (UDA) was elected deputy governor. Lelelit defeated three other candidates, receiving 40,740 (58%) of the valid votes cast. His closest challenger was Richard Leresian Lesiyampe (Jubilee Party (JP)) with 26,834 (38%) votes. 70% turnout for the gubernatorial election in Samburu, as per provisional IEBC results.
26. George Natembeya (Democratic Action Party – Kenya (DAP-K)) was elected governor of Trans Nzoia county in the August 9, 2022 election. Philomenah Bineah Chebetibin (DAP-K) was elected deputy governor. Natembeya defeated six other candidates, receiving 158,919 (65%) of the valid votes cast. His closest challenger was Chrisantus Wakhungu Wamalwa (Forum for Restoration of Democracy – Kenya (FORD-Kenya)) with 79,020 (33%) votes. 61% turnout for the gubernatorial election in Trans Nzoia, as per provisional IEBC results.
27. Jonathan Kimeli Bii Chelilim (United Democratic Alliance (UDA)) was elected governor of Uasin Gishu county in the August 9, 2022 election. John Kibet Barorot (UDA) was elected deputy governor. Chelilim defeated two other candidates, receiving 214,036 (62%) of the valid votes cast. 28. Wisley Kipyegon Rotich (United Democratic Alliance (UDA)) was elected governor of Elgeyo Marakwet county in the August 9, 2022 election. Grace Jerutich Cheserek (UDA) was elected deputy governor. Rotich defeated three other candidates, receiving 147,705 (91%) of the valid votes cast. His closest challenger was Anthony Kipkogee Chelimo (The National Vision Party (NVP)) with 11,759 (7%) votes. 76% turnout for the gubernatorial election in Elgeyo Marakwet, as per provisional IEBC results.
29. Stephen Kipyego Sang (United Democratic Alliance (UDA)) was re-elected governor of Nandi county in the August 9, 2022 election. Yulita Chebotip Mitei (UDA) was re-elected deputy governor. Sang defeated five other candidates, receiving 237,405 (78%) of the valid votes cast. His closest challenger was Cleophas Kiprop Lagat (Independent) with 54,375 (18%) votes. 75% turnout for the gubernatorial election in Nandi, as per provisional IEBC results.
30. Benjamin Chesire Cheboi (United Democratic Alliance (UDA)) was elected governor of Baringo county in the August 9, 2022 election. Charles Kimaiyo Kipng’ok (UDA) was elected deputy governor. Cheboi defeated two other candidates, receiving 137,486 (64%) of the valid votes cast. His closest challenger was Moses K. 31. Joshua Wakahora Irungu (United Democratic Alliance (UDA)) was elected governor of Laikipia county in the August 9, 2022 election. Reuben Kamuri Ngatia (UDA) was elected deputy governor. Irungu defeated four other candidates, receiving 113,783 (68%) of the valid votes cast. His closest challenger was Ndiritu Muriithi (Jubilee Party (JP)) with 48,563 (29%) votes. 64% turnout for the gubernatorial election in Laikipia, as per provisional IEBC results.
32. Susan Wakarura Kihika (United Democratic Alliance (UDA)) was elected governor of Nakuru county in the August 9, 2022 election. David Kipkemoi Kones (UDA) was elected deputy governor. Kihika defeated five other candidates, receiving 440,707 (65%) of the valid votes cast. 33. Patrick Keturet Ole Ntutu (United Democratic Alliance (UDA)) was elected governor of Narok county in the August 9, 2022 election. Koech Tamalinye Kiprono (UDA) was elected deputy governor. Ole Ntutu defeated one other candidate, receiving 160,094 (52%) of the valid votes cast. 34. Joseph Jama ole Lenku (Orange Democratic Movement (ODM)) was re-elected governor of Kajiado county in the August 9, 2022 election. Martin Moshisho Martine (ODM) was re-elected deputy governor. Ole Lenku defeated three other candidates, receiving 117,600 (38%) of the valid votes cast. 35. Erick Mutai Kipkoech (United Democratic Alliance (UDA)) was elected governor of Kericho county in the August 9, 2022 election. Fredrick Kirui Kipng’etich (UDA) was elected deputy governor. Kipkoech defeated three other candidates, receiving 316,768 (95%) of the valid votes cast. 36. Hillary Kipng’eno Barchok (United Democratic Alliance (UDA)) was elected governor of Bomet county in the August 9, 2022 election. David Shadrack Rotich (UDA) was elected deputy governor. Barchok defeated three other candidates, receiving 158,798 (53%) of the valid votes cast. 37. Fernandes Odinga Barasa (Orange Democratic Movement (ODM)) was elected governor of Kakamega county in the 29 August 2022 election. Ayub Savula Angatia (ODM) was elected deputy governor. The election should have been conducted on 9 August 2022 but was postponed to 29 August 2022, due to an error with the election ballots. Barasa defeated six other candidates, receiving 192,929 (53%) of the valid votes cast. His closest challenger was Cleophas Wakhungu Malalah (Amani National Congress (ANC)) with 159,508 (44%) votes. 43% turnout for the gubernatorial election in Kakamega, as per provisional IEBC results.
38. Wilber Khasilwa Ottichilo (Orange Democratic Movement (ODM)) was elected governor of Vihiga county in the August 9, 2022 election. Wilberforce Kitiezo Gwadoya (ODM) was elected deputy governor.  Ottichilo defeated four other candidates, receiving 82,367 (45%) of the valid votes cast. 39. Kenneth Makelo Lusaka (Forum for Restoration of Democracy – Kenya (FORD-Kenya)) was elected governor of Bungoma county in the August 9, 2022 election. Janepher Chemtai Mbatiany (FORD-Kenya) was elected deputy governor. Lusaka defeated three other candidates, receiving 244,298 (62%) of the valid votes cast. 40. Paul Nyongesa Otuoma (Orange Democratic Movement (ODM)) was elected governor of Busia county in the August 9, 2022 election. Arthur Papa Odera (ODM) was elected deputy governor. Otuoma defeated four other candidates, receiving 164,478 (60%) of the valid votes cast. Orengo defeated three other candidates, receiving 220,349 (59%) of the valid votes cast. 42. Peter Anyang’ Nyong’o (Orange Democratic Movement (ODM)) was re-elected governor of Kisumu county in the August 9, 2022 election. Mathew Ochieng Owili (ODM) was re-elected deputy governor. Nyong’o defeated three other candidates, receiving 319,957 (75%) of the valid votes cast. 43. Gladys Atieno Nyasuna Wanga (Orange Democratic Movement (ODM)) was elected governor of Homa Bay county in the August 9, 2022 election. Joseph Oyugi Magwanga (ODM) was elected deputy governor. Wanga defeated two other candidates, receiving 244,559 (61%) of the votes cast. Sakaja defeated eight other candidates, receiving 699,392 (53%) of the votes cast.
