List of All Elected Governors in Kenya 2022 – 2027. Kenyans from the 47 counties across the country cast their votes on Tuesday, August 9, 2022. They participated in electing leaders for various seats including the President, Governors, Senators, Woman Representatives, MPs, and MCAs.
Of the 47 Counties, voters from 45 counties went to the ballot to vote for their governors in 2022. Elections in Mombasa and Kakamega counties did not take place. They were suspended by the IEBC due to a mix-up of the ballot papers.
After the voting ended and votes tallied, results for governors were announced and Kenyans were notified of who would represent them.

- Abdullswamad Sheriff Nassir (Orange Democratic Movement (ODM)) was elected governor of Mombasa in the August 29, 2022 election. Francis Thoya Foleni (ODM) was elected deputy governor. The election should have been conducted on 9 August 2022 but was postponed to 29 August 2022, due to an error with the election ballots. Nassir defeated six other candidates, receiving 119,083 (54%) of the valid votes cast. His closest challenger was Hassan Omar Hassan (United Democratic Alliance (UDA)), who received 98,108 (45%) of the valid votes cast. 34% turnout for the gubernatorial election in Mombasa, as per provisional IEBC results.
- Fatuma Mohamed Achani (United Democratic Alliance (UDA)) was elected governor of Kwale county in the August 9, 2022 election. Chirema Josephat Kombo (UDA) was elected deputy governor. Achani defeated five other candidates, receiving 59,674 (33%) of the valid votes cast. - Gideon Maitha Mung’aro (Orange Democratic Movement (ODM)) was elected governor of Kilifi county in the August 9, 2022 election. Flora Margaret Mbetsa Chibule (ODM) was elected deputy governor. Mung’aro defeated six other candidates, receiving 143,773 (51%) of the valid votes cast. - Dhadho Gaddae Godhana (Orange Democratic Movement (ODM)) was re-elected governor of Tana River county in the August 9, 2022 election. Mahadh Ali Loka (ODM) was elected deputy governor. Godhana defeated twelve other candidates, receiving 26,892 of the valid votes cast. His closest challengers were Tuneya Hussein Dado (United Democratic Alliance (UDA)), with 26,633 votes and Nuh Nassir Abdi (United Party of Independent Alliance (UPIA)) with 24,101 votes.
- Issa Abdalla Timamy (Amani National Congress (ANC)) was elected governor of Lamu county in the August 9, 2022 election. Raphael Munyua Ndung’u (ANC) was elected deputy governor. Timamy defeated three other candidates, receiving 24,198 (48%) of the valid votes cast.
