Andrew Mwadime (Independent) was elected governor of Taita Taveta county in the August 9, 2022 election. Christine Ruth Saru Kilalo (Independent) was elected deputy governor.
Mwadime defeated twelve other candidates, receiving 49,901 (45%) of the valid votes cast. His closest challengers were Granton Graham Samboja (Jubilee Party (JP)), with 23,703 (21%) votes and Johnson Mtuta Mruttu (United Democratic Alliance (UDA)) with 13,685 (12%) votes. 61% turnout for the gubernatorial election in Taita Taveta, as per provisional IEBC results.
