National Museums of Kenya Building. Triad Architects were appointed under a European Union funded program to prepare a detailed Master Plan for the development of the National Museums of Kenya, Nairobi Museum. The project involved the rehabilitation of the existing Museum, conversion of the redundant spaces to galleries and the design of a new entrance, Visitors Centre and galleries.

The design planning problems of the site required an innovative approach to solve the problems of access and approach to the main building, problems which had remained unresolved since the site was first developed.

Triad co-ordinated a multi-disciplinary team, including overseas consultants, and fi nalised the pre-contract stage of the program in 2000, which included preparation of designs for all the buildings on the site and preparation of full tender documents.

The site-wide infrastructure system at the site including electrical, IT, and water systems were completely replaced. Triad managed the construction stages of the program under two separate concurrent building contracts over the period 2006-2007. The project was handed over on time and in budget.
