The Government of Eritrea has identified human resource development, including the need to strengthen institutions of higher education, as a key priority for growth and poverty reduction. In Eritrea’s education sector, the government has rolled out an ambitious programme of expansion of higher education institutions as well as vocational training.
The public administration and education sectors were the largest segments of GDP in 2011, at 28.6%. The government is committed to maintaining high levels of social spending, especially in education.
