This article Looks at a List of Tallest Buildings in Kisii Town. In South Nyanza, Kenya, lies Kisii town that is home to more than 500,000 people who work and hold businesses in the town while it has more than 200,000 people who reside in it.

As with many other towns in Kenya, Kisii town has its origin. It is believed that in the early 1900’s where the town stands was a bushy forest where young men would go to graze their cattle.

Kisii, Kenya

Kisii is a municipality and a major urban centre in south-western Kenya. It is the capital of the Kisii County which has a population of 1,266,860 according to the Kenya National Census of 2019. Kisii Town also serves as the main urban and commercial centre in the Gusii Highlands and the South Nyanza region and the second largest town in formerly greater Nyanza after Kisumu City. It is a bustling town and a home to several businesses, organizations, educational institutions and government agencies. Kisii municipality sits right at the centre of the western Kenya tourist circuit that includes the Tabaka Soapstone Carvings, Maasai Mara Game Reserve, Lambwe Valley Game Reserve and the entire Lake Victoria basin. The town continues to serve these former districts, the larger South Nyanza County and the Trans Mara area of western Narok County in commerce. Kisii town connects the Great Rift Valley and Nairobi to Migori and the Kenya-Tanzania border and has a sizable manufacturing industry based on agriculture primarily plantation farming.

Mocha Place

10 storey Mocha Place now called Kwanza Place is a prestigious business complex at the heart of Kisii town with Illuminated logo on the facade

This building is estimated to be 58.95m high and has 16 floors above the ground and 2 below the ground. It has two elevators, 12 escalators, and 24 parking spaces. Construction of the tower began on 5th November 2013 and ended on February 2015. Estimated construction cost was $2 million.

Umoja Elimu Complex 

Umoja Elimu Centre is a multi storeyed building in Kisii town, Kisii County and hosts a variety of… Kisii-Kisumu Road Opposite Falcon Petrol Station.

This  Complex was at one point the tallest building in Kisii. The structure houses campuses of some of the top tertiary institutions including Kisii University, Jomo Kenyatta University of Science and Technology and Kenya Institute of Management.

ST JUDE KISII

This is  the busiest building in the busy town, housing a number of hotels like Kanyimbo and Mombasa hotels. A number of shops, clubs, cybers and hardwares are also located in this building that is next to the town’s largest bus stage. A fleet of ‘mama mbogas’ line up here daily to meet there customers. A bodaboda stage bearing the building’s is also located next to this building.

KeMU Kisii Town

KeMU Kisii Town is a 10-story low-rise building in Kisii, Kenya. The building is also estimated at 36.84m. Construction work began on 18th July 2013 and ended on September 2015. It has 2 elevators, 7 escalators and 7 parking spaces.  Kenya Methodist University is a Chartered Christian University, with the main campus situated in Meru and campuses at Nairobi and Mombasa. Kisii University Twin Towers is a 10-story low-rise building in Kisii, Kenya. This is the Premier Institution of Choice for Higher Learning and Education in the 21st Century Society South of the Sahara North of the Equator.

The twin towers estimated height is 36.84m. Construction of the building took place between 2nd February 2010 and 13th May 2013. It boasts two elevators, 9 escalators and 8 parking spaces. The towers serve as the main campus for Kisii University.

Uhuru Plaza Kisii Town

Uhuru Plaza’s building estimated height is 29.48m. Construction began on 4th March 2010 and ended on May 2013. This is one of the most famous buildings in Gusii. The ground floor is best for banking, unlike the other floors that are best known for cyber cafes and beauty salons. Cosmetics are of plenty here also.

You’ll find Kisii University and Gusii Stadium within 2 miles (3 km) of this hotel. Kisii Golf Course is within 2 miles (3 km) and Lake Simbi is within 32 miles (52 km).
