Kenya’s Tetu Constituency is a constituency used for elections. It is one of Nyeri County’s six constituencies, having been created in 1988. List of Elected MCAs in Tetu Constituency 2022
The Tetu Constituency is all included within the territory of the Nyeri County Council and is made up of the Tetu Division of Nyeri County. Of all the seats in Nyeri county, Tetu has the fewest number of wards—just three.
Two of its most well-known representatives are Dr. Wangari Maathai (1940–2011), who led the Mau Mau from 2002 to 2007, and Dedan Kimathi Waciuri (31 October 1920–18 February 1957), the legendary liberal leader of the Mau Mau.
As the first African woman to receive the Nobel Peace Prize during her term in government, she is surprisingly still among the first 35 women to win a Nobel Prize in any category. Within five years of leaving this office, Dr. Maathai passed away from cancer.
