The bigger Trans Nzoia East District, also known as Cherangani Sub-County, is included in the Cherangany Constituency (sometimes spelled Cherangani Constituency), which has an approximate area of 556.9 square kilometers. It is a Kenyan electoral constituency that was formed just for the general election in 1988.
Each of its seven county assembly wards elects a member of the Trans-Nzoia County Assembly’s county assembly (MCA).
It is one of Trans-Nzoia County’s five constituencies. The constituency was created for Kenya’s general election of 1988. Known as Kitale East Constituency before the 1988 Kenyan general election, Hon. Masinde Muliro and Hon. Fred Gumo served as its representatives in the national legislature.
