Limuru Country Golf Club, established in 1945 by colonial settlers, is a private members’ club located in Limuru, about 25 kilometers from Nairobi along the Kabuku-Tigoni Road. The club is a hub for recreational and social activities, offering a serene environment for families and friends to meet, exercise, dine, and relax.

The club initially opened a nine-hole golf course in 1949, followed by a second nine holes in 1952. In addition to its renowned golf course, the club offers:

Single Country Member

Membership Requirements and Application Process

  1. Proposer Requirement: Applicants must be proposed by a full member who has been with the club for at least one year.
  2. Application Submission: Proposer and seconder complete an application form, attaching:
    • Membership entrance fee payment.
    • Two passport-sized photos (applicant and spouse for joint membership).
    • Copies of ID or passport (applicant and spouse for joint membership).
    • Birth certificates for children under 18 (if applicable).
    • A one-page CV for the applicant.
  3. Balloting:
    • Both the proposer and applicant attend a balloting session with the Membership & Disciplinary Committee, typically held on the first Saturday of each month.
  4. Vetting Period:
    • The applicant’s photo and name are displayed on the notice board for two months for member vetting. A temporary card is issued during this time.
  5. Final Approval:
    • After two months, a second review is conducted. If approved, the application is forwarded to the Board of Directors for election.
    • Upon election, the applicant becomes a full member and receives a permanent membership card.
    • Unsuccessful applicants or withdrawals are refunded minus a 10% administrative fee.

Notes on Membership

  • Married individuals cannot hold single memberships. Single members must upgrade to joint membership upon marriage.
  • Country Membership: Only available to those living 70km or more from the club, with limited access to facilities.
  • Life Membership: Reserved for members aged 65+ with 25 years of continuous membership.
  • Temporary Membership: Limited to non-Kenyans and valid for a maximum of two years.
  • Junior Membership: For children aged 18-24 who remain dependents, with a transition to full membership afterward.
  • Corporate Membership: Open to organizations, nominating three or more employees.
