Targeted Meters: The update targets all prepaid meters using the Standard Transfer Specification (STS), a universal method ensuring security in token generation.
Scope: A total of 7.4 million prepaid meters are targeted for this exercise. Any meters not updated by the deadline will stop accepting tokens.
Campaign: The initiative is branded as the “Update Token Meter Yako Campaign.”

How to Update Your Prepaid Meter
- Token Purchase Notification: Upon purchasing tokens, customers will receive a message prompting them to update their meters.
- Two Codes: Consumers will receive a reset code and an update code. These codes must be entered into the meter following the instructions provided in the SMS before loading the new token.
Steps to Update:
- Enter the reset code into your meter.
- Follow by entering the update code.
- Load the new token.
Unused Tokens: Customers are advised to load any underutilized tokens before updating their meters. Failure to do so will render these tokens invalid.
