When Mwalimu Rachel, a prominent media personality, recently stepped out in a stunning outfit for an event, she wasn’t just turning heads; she was putting the spotlight on Jo.jo Fashion House, a fast-rising fashion brand led by a 25-year-old designer. The outfit, paired with Rachel’s confident social media post—“Complicated? Perhaps. Not confident? Never. Welcome to a brand new week, ladies. We step in CONFIDENCE. It’s hella sexy”—underscored the power of this bold new fashion statement.
Behind the impeccable design lies Jo.jo Fashion House, founded by a young Gen Z entrepreneur whose inspiring journey is capturing attention and admiration.
The Journey of Jo.jo Fashion House: From Bedroom to Workshop
At just 25 years old, the founder of Jo.jo Fashion House has come a long way. With a passion for fashion, she made the brave decision to pivot from a potential career in hotel and tourism management to pursuing her true love—fashion design.
“At 21, I took a risky leap and left hotel and tourism to follow my true passion for fashion,” she shared in an Instagram post. This leap marked the beginning of a relentless pursuit of her dreams, even when it meant long hours and starting small.
“At 22, I started making suits in my room. At 23, I finally moved into a bigger workspace (still under my parents’ roof),” she recalled. By this point, sleep had become a luxury. She juggled roles as both the designer and tailor, putting in tireless effort to meet client deadlines and build her brand.
Her passion was clear. “The business demanded everything from me. I was both the tailor and designer, wearing every hat necessary to keep things moving,” she explained. At just 24, she managed to convert her room into a full-fledged studio.
Expansion and Innovation: Turning Dreams Into Reality
As the brand grew, so did her ambitions. After a year of success working from home, Jo.jo Fashion House moved to Nairobi’s CBD, marking a significant milestone. “I turned 24 while still working from my parents’ house, but I was determined. Eventually, I moved the office to a bigger space,” she said, reflecting on her journey.
Driven by a commitment to client satisfaction and service improvement, she went the extra mile. She even traveled to China to source practical solutions to the feedback her clients had been providing. “The need to improve our services arose. I travelled to China to find practical solutions to the client feedback we had been receiving,” she explained, emphasizing her dedication to growing her business while listening to customer needs.
Now, at 25, she can finally take a breath. “The team is in place, but I still wear both hats as a designer and tailor,” she shared with pride.
Mission and Vision: Elegance Meets Affordability
The mission behind Jo.jo Fashion House is simple yet powerful: to create pieces that mirror the inner beauty of the wearer. The founder’s goal is to make people stop and stare when they see the garments she creates. “My mission is to make them stop and stare. To mirror your inner beauty and create pieces with love,” she declared.
Her brand strives to offer a harmonious blend of elegance and affordability, ensuring that everyone can experience high-quality, beautifully designed clothing without breaking the bank.
The Future of Jo.jo Fashion House
Jo.jo Fashion House is still growing but has already made significant strides in the fashion industry. From humble beginnings in her bedroom to a thriving studio in Nairobi, the 25-year-old designer has proved that with dedication, passion, and hard work, dreams can become reality.
In her own words: “I’m finally breathing”—and her hard-earned success is just the beginning. As Jo.jo Fashion House continues to rise, we can expect even bigger things from this trailblazing designer who’s determined to make her mark in the world of fashion.
