Huawei has launched three new wearables and announced the international release of two tablets, the MatePad Pro 12.2 and MatePad 12 X, during an event in Barcelona. These tablets have been available in China for several months.
The MatePad Pro 12.2 features a dual-layer OLED display, a substantial 10,100 mAh battery, and supports 100W wired charging. Meanwhile, the MatePad 12 X, known as the MatePad Air in China, shares the same battery capacity as the Pro model.
The MatePad Pro is compatible with a keyboard and stylus. Unlike its larger 13.2-inch counterpart released in late 2023, the 12.2-inch display (with a resolution of 2,800 x 1,840 pixels) is notch-free, providing an uninterrupted viewing experience.
Both models feature a PaperMatte layer on their screens, which mimics the feel of paper to enhance usability for “young creators” while being gentle on the eyes.
The MatePad Pro is available in two configurations: a Black model with 256 GB of storage priced at €849/£700, and a Gold version with 512 GB of storage and a PaperMatte screen for €999/£800. Buyers in the UK will receive a cover keyboard with their purchase, and those who order by October 22 will also get a free third-generation Huawei M Pencil and a £100 coupon.
The MatePad 12 X offers similar bundles, including a keyboard and the M Pencil for orders placed by October 22. Pricing starts at €569/£550 for the 256 GB Black or White models, with the 512 GB version featuring the PaperMatte screen priced at €649.
