If Netflix isn’t working on your Android phone or tablet, you can often fix the problem with these basic troubleshooting steps.
Turn your device off, then on
- Turn off your Android. Make sure it’s powered off, not just locked.
- Turn it back on.
- Try Netflix again.
Clear the Netflix app data
Clearing the Netflix app data will remove any TV shows and movies downloaded on your device and sign you out of your account.
- Tap and hold the Netflix app icon, then tap App info.
- Tap Storage & cache > Clear storage > OK.
- Try Netflix again.
The steps to clear an app’s data might be different for your device. To get steps for your device, check the manual that came with it or get help from the manufacturer.
Reinstall the Netflix app
Uninstalling the app will remove any TV shows and movies downloaded on your device and sign you out of your account.
If you’re on your Android phone or tablet, open the Netflix page in the Play Store, tap Uninstall, then tap Install.
These steps will also reinstall the app:
- Open the Play Store app and search for Netflix.
- From the Netflix app store page, tap Uninstall.
- To confirm, tap Uninstall again.
- Tap Install.
- Wait for the app to install, then tap Open.
- Try Netflix again.
Test your internet connection
- Using a web browser, go to fast.com.
- Wait for the test to finish.
If your browser shows an error message or the website doesn’t load, it means your device isn’t connected to the internet. You might need to troubleshoot your home network or your device’s connection to the internet.
Restart your home network
For this step, leave your device and all of your home network equipment powered off and unplugged as a group for 30 seconds before plugging each device back in one by one.
- Turn off your mobile device.
- Unplug your modem (and your wireless router, if it’s a separate device) from power for 30 seconds.
- Plug in your modem and wait until no new indicator lights are blinking on. If your router is separate from your modem, plug it in and wait until no new indicator lights are blinking on.
- Turn your device back on and try Netflix again.
