Netflix Features
Supported regions
Netflix is available on select Chromecast devices in all regions where the device and Netflix service is available. For help getting started with your Chromecast and connecting it to your TV and Wi-Fi network, see support.google.com/chromecast.
Navigation
Chromecast and Chromecast Ultra allow you to control your Netflix experience from your Android mobile device, Apple mobile device, or computer from a Chrome browser with the Google Cast extension installed.
Chromecast with Google TV includes a remote control and supports voice-activated controls with Google Assistant to open Netflix and play TV shows or movies.
Device compatibility
Chromecast with Google TV, Chromecast, and Chromecast Ultra can be set up on an Android device, iPhone, or iPad meeting the device requirements for Chromecast.
Resolution
Chromecasts are capable of streaming Netflix in high definition on fast internet connections and will play Netflix in their maximum supported resolution.
Subtitles and audio
Chromecasts support subtitles, alternative audio (dubbing, other languages), and 5.1 surround sound when available. Chromecast Ultra and Chromecast with Google TV can stream select titles with Dolby Atmos audio.

Set Up Netflix
Set up Chromecast or Chromecast Ultra
Before you can set up Netflix on your Chromecast, first install and set up the Google Home app on your mobile device.Â
Set up Chromecast or Chromecast Ultra on the Google Home app
For information or assistance on the following steps, see support.google.com/chromecast. You’ll need to perform the following before trying to set up Netflix.
- Plug in the Chromecast.
- Download the Google Home app.
- Connect your mobile device/tablet to the same Wi-Fi network that you intend to use to set up your Chromecast device.
- Open the Google Home app and set up the Chromecast as a new device.
NOTE:
Contact Google customer support if you need help setting up the Chromecast or Google Home app. Google no longer allows setting up a Chromecast on a computer.
Set up Netflix once you’ve set up Chromecast or Chromecast Ultra on the Google Home app
Launch the Netflix app on your device.
- Once you’re signed in, select the Cast
icon from the upper or lower right side of the screen.
- Select your Chromecast from the list of available devices to launch the Netflix app on your TV.
- Select a TV show or movie to watch and press Play.
Your device is now connected to your Netflix account.
Set up Chromecast with Google TV
Connect from Home screen
To connect your Chromecast with Google TV to your Netflix account, make sure you are on the Home screen and follow the steps below.
- From the home screen, select Netflix.
- Select Member Sign in.
- If you are not yet a member, set up your membership.
- Enter your Netflix email address and password.
- Select Continue.
Your device is now connected to your Netflix account.
Connect from your remote
- Begin from your TV home screen.
- Press the Netflix button on your remote.
- Once in the Netflix app, select Sign In and follow the instructions on the screen.
Cast from your device
Launch the Netflix app on your device.
- Select a TV show or movie to watch and press Play.
- Select the Cast
icon in the corner of the screen.
- Select your Chromecast with Google TV from the list of available devices.
NOTE:
Both the device and Chromecast with Google TV must be signed into the same Netflix account.
Sign Out of Netflix
Sign out on Chromecast or Chromecast Ultra
Chromecast and Chromecast Ultra use the Netflix account information stored on your Android or Apple mobile device, or the Netflix website on your Chrome browser. To disconnect from your Netflix account, sign out on the device you are using to cast from.

Sign out on Chromecast with Google TV
- Begin from the Netflix Home screen.
- To open the menu, navigate left and select Get Help.
- If you don’t see Get Help, navigate up and select Settings or the Settings icon

- If you don’t see Get Help, navigate up and select Settings or the Settings icon
- Select Sign out.
- Select Yes to confirm.
If you don’t see Get Help, Settings, or the Settings icon:
- From within the Netflix app, use the arrows on your remote to enter the following sequence:
Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, Up, Up, Up, Up. - Select Sign out, Start Over, Deactivate, or Reset.
Netflix in Ultra HD
Netflix is available in Ultra HD on select Chromecast models. To stream in Ultra HD, you need:
- A TV compatible with Ultra HD streaming from Netflix, connected to your Chromecast via an HDMI port that supports HDCP 2.2 or later (usually the HDMI 1 port).
- A plan that supports streaming in Ultra HD. You can check which plan you’re currently on at netflix.com/ChangePlan.
- A steady internet connection speed of 15 megabits per second or higher.
- Streaming quality set to Auto or High.
The following Chromecast models currently support Netflix in Ultra HD:
Netflix in HDR
Netflix is available in Dolby Vision and HDR on select Chromecast devices. To stream in Dolby Vision or HDR, you need:
- A Netflix plan that supports streaming in Ultra HD.
- A streaming device that supports either Dolby Vision or HDR and Netflix.
- A smart TV that supports either Dolby Vision or HDR10 connected to your device via an HDMI port that supports HDCP 2.2 or later (usually the HDMI 1 port).
- A steady internet connection speed of 15 megabits per second or higher.
- Streaming quality set to High.
The following Chromecast devices currently support Netflix in HDR:
- Chromecast Ultra
- Chromecast with Google TV
- Chromecast HD with Google TV
