Procedure on How to Register Disabled Persons Organization (DPO) in Kenya
By definition a Diasabled person or a Person With Disabilities is person with a physical, sensory, mental or other impairment, including any visual, hearing, learning or physical incapability, which impacts adversely on social, economic or environmental participation
You are to complete the form and present the registration form together with the medical report and all required documents to the Sub-county Gender & Social Development Officer. This documents are mentioned in the “ required documents” section of this page
Registration is then done by the Sub-county Gender & Social Development Officer. The registration forms are then forwarded to the council by the officer.
Registration details are made available on the day of application.

Apply Online: Step 1:Make Online Application
Create a log in account within the Government of Kenya Single Sign On portal.eFNS portal
Log in using the account you have created above to access eFNS portal
Once logged in the eFNS portal, select the “Apply now” Link.
Click on the “Submit Applications” tab and select the Application by persons with disability tab.
Confirm, if you have the following required documents;
i. Copy of Passport
ii. Copy of Birth Certificate
iii. Proof of lawful residence in Kenya
iv. Copy of parent’s/legal guardian certificate of registration
v. Medical certificate on disability
vi. Certificate of good conduct for children above 18 Years
vii. Applicants must ensure that they are lawfully present in the country as they wait for application to be finalized
viii. Copy of the Police Clearance Certificate
Verify that you have the required document/pre-requisites and you meet the relevant criteria before you apply. Click on the “Apply Now” button on your right to apply.
Fill in the required information and upload your passport photo picture and police clearance certificate. Click on the ’’continue’’ button to proceed to print your application.
You should then print your filled application and present to the immigration department offices or Kenya missions abroad.
Step 2:Visit immigration offices or Kenya missions abroad to complete application
After printing the application and invoice you are required to visit an immigration office in Nairobi, Mombasa and Kisumu or Kenya missions abroad for collection and for the processing of the application.
You must also present all the required documents to the officer. These are mention in the required documents section of this page.
After submitting the registration application, you will get your PWD details immediately.

Any individuals who qualify as per the definition of a person with disabilities.
By definition a Person with Disabilities is person with a physical, sensory, mental or other impairment, including any visual, hearing, learning or physical incapability, which impacts adversely on social, economic or environmental participation.
A child or person with disability who is a dependent of any biological parent or legal guardian who is a citizen of Kenya by registration shall upon an application made on their behalf in a prescribed manner be registered as a citizen, upon—
i. production of documents conferring Kenyan citizenship to any of the parents or the legal guardian;
ii. production of the child’s or the person with disability’s birth certificate; and
iii. proof of lawful residence of the child or person with disability in Kenya.

The registration process is a continuous exercise where children and adults are all registered.
