How to Activate Safaricom Data Save Service

The Safaricom Data Save service helps Prepay and Postpay customers extend their browsing time by optimizing data speeds. Once activated, the service caps your internet speed, which can lengthen browsing time. While downloads may take longer, other applications will function as usual. You’ll still get a low bundle notification when your data balance is below 2MB.

Steps to Activate Safaricom Data Save Service

1. Dial *544# on your Safaricom line.
2. Select Option 9: Balance & Tips.
3. Choose Option 3: Data Save.
4. Select Option 1 to activate Data Save by reducing speed.
5. You will receive an SMS confirmation stating that Data Save has been activated, allowing you to browse at optimized speeds.
6. Alternatively, you can activate Data Save by visiting www.safaricom.com/account and navigating to the usage section.

The Data Save service is free, and you can opt in or out whenever you like. If you decide to opt out, best-effort speeds will apply.

How to Deactivate Safaricom Data Save Service

1. Dial *544#.
2. Select Option 9: Balance & Tips.
3. Choose Option 3: Data Save.
4. Select full speeds for faster downloads.
5. You will receive an SMS confirmation stating that Data Save has been deactivated, allowing you to enjoy faster browsing speeds.
6. You can also deactivate the service on www.safaricom.com/account under the usage section.
