Honor AI Image Editing Features Showcased at Google Cloud Next 2025
Honor AI image editing features took center stage at Google Cloud Next 2025 in Las Vegas, where the tech company highlighted its growing investment in artificial intelligence through its $10 billion Alpha Plan. The plan aims to position Honor as a global AI device ecosystem leader, and its latest innovations prove it’s well on its way.
During the event, Honor introduced a suite of next-gen photo editing tools powered by Google’s advanced AI models, making creative photo editing smarter, easier, and more intuitive for users.
AI Outpainting: Reframe and Expand Your Photos Seamlessly
One of the flagship Honor AI image editing features is AI Outpainting. This feature allows users to zoom out or rotate photos after taking them without worrying about awkward blank spaces. Using Google’s Imagen model through Honor’s AiMAGE suite, those gaps are automatically filled in with realistic, scene-matching content.
“The optimized generative fill ensures that the expanded images are seamlessly integrated, even in complex scenes like buildings and landscapes,” said Eric Fang, Senior Director of Product Planning at Honor.
This functionality gives users freedom to reframe their shots even after capturing the moment. In fact, AI Outpainting can expand an image to twice its original size, providing unparalleled flexibility in post-shot cropping and composition.
AI Eraser: Remove Unwanted Objects Instantly
Also powered by Imagen’s inpainting capabilities, AI Eraser allows users to remove distracting objects from photos with just a few taps. Once the object is selected, the tool fills the space with contextually appropriate content from the surrounding scene, resulting in clean and natural edits.
This feature competes directly with similar tools from other leading smartphone brands, but Honor’s integration with Google Cloud AI ensures high accuracy and visual consistency.
Already Available on the Honor 400 Lite
The recently launched Honor 400 Lite, which debuted in Europe last week, supports both AI Outpainting and AI Eraser, along with AI Upscale – a tool that enhances image resolution using deep learning.
“Democratizing AI is at the core of our mission,” said Eric Fang.
By bringing these features to a mid-range device, Honor is making advanced AI tools accessible to a wider audience – a bold step toward making on-device AI editing mainstream.
More AI Tools Coming: Video Generation and Gemini Integration
Honor is not stopping with still images. The company is actively working with Google Cloud on a video generation feature that will utilize Google’s Veo model.
Additionally, upcoming Honor devices launching next month will include productivity-boosting features based on Google Gemini, further blurring the lines between AI creativity and productivity tools.
Honor and Google are also co-developing on-device AI features, ensuring users have powerful tools at their fingertips even without a cloud connection.
Conclusion: A New Era in Mobile AI Creativity
With the debut of Honor AI image editing features like AI Outpainting and AI Eraser, combined with ongoing collaboration with Google Cloud, Honor is firmly establishing itself as a pioneer in mobile AI innovation.
These tools not only enhance how users capture and edit images but also demonstrate what’s possible when powerful AI is made accessible to everyone.
