The incident has sparked outrage with hundreds of women taking to the streets of Mogadishu on Sunday to protest and demand justice.
Incidents of kidnap, rape, torture and murder of women and girls have been increasingly reported across Somalia in recent years.
A few days ago, a 16-year old girl was kidnapped, raped and tortured for several hours before she was found tied up in Garowe, the capital of the semi-autonomous region of Puntland.
The cases have put the federal parliament in the spotlight for refusing to pass the Sexual Offences Bill, which was aimed at protecting women and girls from gender-based violence.
The woman, Hamdi Mohamed Farah, is from central Somalia and was in Mogadishu for studies.
Police said she was raped and then thrown off the roof of a several-storey building in Mogadishu’s Waberi District. Four men arrested for the incident are currently under investigation.
It is not clear whether the woman was dead or alive before she was pushed off the building.
