The voters registered in prisons could only vote in the presidential election.
Adan Nathif Jama (Orange Democratic Movement (ODM)) was elected governor of Garissa county in the August 9, 2022 election. Abdi Muhumed Dagane (ODM) was elected deputy governor.
Jama defeated four other candidates, receiving 69,342 (63%) of the valid votes cast. His closest challengers were Ali Bunow Korane (Jubilee Party (JP)), with 26,148 (24%) votes and Dekow Mohamed Barrow (United Democratic Alliance (UDA)) with 13,602 (12%) votes. 55% turnout for the gubernatorial election in Garissa, as per provisional IEBC results.
