TD-SCDMA is a 3G mobile telecommunications standard developed in China as an alternative to international 3G technologies like WCDMA and CDMA2000. It combines Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) and Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) techniques, allowing multiple users to share the same frequency channel through unique codes and time slots. TD-SCDMA was deployed primarily by China Mobile and tailored to the country’s specific frequency spectrum and network needs. Although it played a key role in China’s mobile evolution, TD-SCDMA has been largely phased out in favor of more advanced technologies like 4G LTE and 5G.
