HSDPA (High-Speed Downlink Packet Access) is a 3G mobile communication protocol that enhances data download speeds over UMTS (Universal Mobile Telecommunications System) networks. Often referred to as 3.5G, HSDPA improves user experience for activities like web browsing, video streaming, and app downloads by increasing data transfer rates up to 14.4 Mbps in its initial release, with later versions supporting even higher speeds. It achieves this through more efficient use of radio bandwidth, advanced modulation techniques, and faster retransmission protocols. HSDPA works alongside HSUPA (High-Speed Uplink Packet Access) to form HSPA, offering a balanced high-speed mobile broadband experience.
