Dennis Ombachi is one of the few well-known professionals in Kenya who has seamlessly transitioned between professions.
Known by most as the Roaming Chef, Ombachi is a former rugby player for the Kenya 7s who is currently a self-taught online chef and possibly the nation’s largest producer of food-related material.
During the COVID-19 epidemic in 2019 and 2020, Ombachi gained notoriety by going from house to house and providing culinary services. This is how he earned the moniker “roaming chef.”

Later, he would continue to build on the momentum by sharing videos of himself preparing various meals on other social media sites.
Even though he was already well-known, his culinary prowess increased his notoriety along with his ability to slice and present food. His slogan ‘done’ which he repeats after concluding a kitchen activity has become a brand in its own right.
He has signed contracts with a number of businesses, including Festive Bakeries, Royco, and Kenchic, making 2023 a huge year for him.
He has also been invited to participate in culinary diplomacy by the Italian and Chinese embassies in Nairobi.
Ombachi competed in rugby for Kenya during the 2016 Summer Olympics, but something happened on the field that would change his life.
He missed six months of play after breaking both his ankle and leg.
