Bank of Uganda is the central bank of Uganda, established in 1966 by an Act of Parliament. Although wholly owned by the Government of Uganda, the institution operates independently and is responsible for regulating the country’s monetary system, supervising financial institutions, and issuing the national currency.
Over the years, the Bank of Uganda has played a central role in maintaining macroeconomic stability, managing inflation, and strengthening financial inclusion.
