Akamba Bus Services began as a merger between three Kenyan public transportation companies: Commercial Bus Company, Makueni Bus Company and Western Bus Company. After more than 50 years in operation, Akamba Bus closed its doors in May 2012. Together, these three bus companies merged in the 1950s to form The Akamba Bus Company, with the founding director being Sherali Hassan Nathoo. At the time of his death, in the year 2000, Sherali Hassan Nathoo was Akamba’s major shareholder. His biological sons, Karim Sherali Nathoo and Moez Sherali Nathoo inherited some of their father’s shares as well as control of the company.
