Today, AAR Insurance is a licensed financial services provider in Kenya and a member of the Association of Kenya Insurers (AKI) with presence across the country through its intensive branch and broker network.
AAR insurance is primarily a health insurance kenya company that started operation in 1984 as an air and road ambulance service and operated under the name Africa Air Rescue. The company’s products were designed to meet the needs of travelers on safari, tourists and professionals working in remote places. After many years of successful operations AAR diversified its business holdings by opening health centers and offering medical insurance services.
The company currently provides outpatient healthcare services all over the East African region to both members of its insurance schemes, and to the public. It works with leading hospitals to offer outpatient services for clients and patients who may need admission or specialized care. AAR insurance works with a panel of hospitals and its members are not forced to use AAR healthcare facilities. These hospitals include the Aga Khan University Hospital, Mater, AAR HealthCare, Gertrude’s and Medanta, among others.
Apart from Healthcare, AAR insurance also provides general insurance services such as personal accident cover, doctors indemnity cover, school insurance (covering school infrastructure, student insurance etc), among others. The company intends to start operations in Somalia, Ethiopia, and South Sudan in response the demand for its services in these countries.

How to use AAR insurance Paybill number 333 200
- Select “Pay Bill” option on the M-PESA menu
- Enter the AAR insurance Paybill number 333 200
- Enter your AAR Account Number (not membership number) e.g. 18905, i.e. as indicated on AAR Administration system (CCA), also shown on your renewal advice as Account Number
- Enter the amount you wish to pay (all currencies are in Ksh. Maximum amount payable per transaction is Ksh 70,000)
- Enter the M-PESA PIN
- Confirm details are correct before completing the transaction.
- Verify that you have received an e-receipt from M-PESA, (M-PESA charges apply).
Note: Communication will be sent to you from AAR on how to collect your receipt of payment once the payment is received and processed.

How To Access M-TIBA On Your Phone
- Dial *253# (Safaricom, Airtel,Telkom on the number registered on MTIBA).
- Enter M-TIBA Pin (Press 1 if you have forgotten your pin).
- Press 1 – To intiate a treatment.
- Select Recent Clinic or Enter the Till Number of the facility.
- Select Patient to be treated.
- Select payment method.
- Select your AAR or Corporate scheme and then either Outpatient/ Dental/ Optical as payment method.
- Press 1 to authorize.
M-TIBA BENEFITS
- Secure access and control of benefits on your phone.
- Instantly initiate a treatment on your phone.

- Select Recent Clinic or Enter the Till Number of the facility.
- Select Patient to be treated.
- Select payment method.
- Select your AAR or Corporate scheme and then either Outpatient/ Dental/ Optical as payment method.
- Press 1 to authorize.
Your dependents will be attended to through any of these steps:
- M-TIBA is not accessible out of the country or on roaming service.
- Your dependent can access the AAR benefit by dialing *253# on their registered phone number and following the menu prompts to open the treatment. Your spouse?s phone number should be setup to access the benefit.
- You can also authorize his/her treatment from where you are, as long as they provide the clinic till number which is required to open a treatment.
- In case your dependent does not have a phone number; your dependent can also go to the facility and provide the (primary member’s) phone number. The dependent will be verified using fingerprints. Upon verification, the facility will proceed to open a treatment on the M-TIBA portal using the primary members phone number and offer the required services. The primary member will receive an SMS notification once the transaction is completed.
If you can access your benefit, you can change it as follows;
- Step 1 – Dial *253#
- Step 2 – Enter M-TIBA PIN
- Step 3 – Select Option 9: “Settings”
- Step 4 – Select Option 1: “Change PIN”
- Step 5 – Enter Current PIN
- Step 6 – Enter New PIN
- Step 7 – Confirm New PIN
You will receive an SMS notification confirming PIN change “Your PIN has been changed”.
If you have forgotten your PIN, you can reset it as follows:
- Dial *253#
- press 1 if you have forgotten your PIN
- Enter date of Birth e.g. DDMMYYYY (01011963)
- Enter ID/Passport number
- Enter new PIN
- Confirm new PIN
- Your PIN has been changed
